This is a big year for the boy band, Big Time Rush. In addition to their hit Nickelodeon TV show, the boys recently filmed the Big Time Rush movie—and they just embarked on a tour to promote their highly anticipated sophomore album, Elevate—which hit stores yesterday.
But all of that success has come at a price for the boys—at least when it comes to their romantic lives. Carlos Pena, the half-Dominican, half-Venezuelan member of the band, tells Latina.com exclusively that his career is so busy, he doesn't have time for a girlfriend. “It’s almost impossible,” Pena said when asked about having a relationship. “I try and date and with my schedule, and nobody can keep up with me," he adds. Pena says despite what they say, absence doesn't always make the heart grow fonder. “It’s hard to keep that love going when you’re never home,” he says.
Still, Pena says he’s open to a relationship and says he knows exactly what he wants from a signicant other. “Personality—like everyone says—is always important,” he explains. “But I like a girl whose got her own thing going—a girl who has a passion for something and is going for it. To me that’s attractive.”
In other words, he doesn’t want a girl who just wants to sit back and live vicariously through him. “Girls who rely on someone…I don’t know. It doesn’t do it for me," he says. “I need someone who has a goal and is very passionate about it and we meet in the middle.”
